Reasonable Adjustments at Dr Kassha Practice

We're committed to making our services accessible to everyone

At Dr Kassha Practice, we want everyone to be able to access our services safely, confidently and with dignity.

If you have a disability, long-term health condition, learning disability, autism, sensory impairment or any other need that makes it difficult to access healthcare, we may be able to make reasonable adjustments to help.

We encourage you to tell us about any support you need so we can provide the best possible care.

What are reasonable adjustments?

Reasonable adjustments are changes we can make to help remove barriers to accessing healthcare.

Adjustments are tailored to your individual needs and may include:

  • Longer appointments.
  • A ground floor consultation room.
  •  A quiet place to wait if you find busy environments difficult.
  • Support from a carer, family member or advocate during your appointment.
  • Information in Easy Read or Large Print.
  • British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters.
  • Language interpreters.
  • Communication by text, email or letter where appropriate.
  • Home visits where clinically appropriate.

If you need something that is not listed above, please speak to a member of our team. We will do our best to support you.

Tell us what you need

You can let us know about your needs:

  • When you register with the practice.
  • When booking an appointment.
  • During a consultation with a clinician.
  • By speaking to a member of our reception team.
  • By contacting us by telephone or email.

Please tell us if your needs change so that we can keep your record up to date.

Recording your needs

With your agreement where appropriate, we will record your communication and accessibility needs in your medical record. This helps all members of our team understand how best to support you.

Where appropriate, we may also apply the NHS Reasonable Adjustment Digital Flag to help ensure your needs are recognised when you receive care from other NHS services.

Accessible Information Standard

Dr Kassha Practice follows the NHS Accessible Information Standard (AIS).

This means we will:

  • Ask if you have any information or communication needs.
  • Record those needs in your medical record.
  • Highlight those needs so staff are aware of them.
  • Share information about your needs with other healthcare providers where appropriate and lawful.
  • Provide information in a format that meets your needs.
  • Review your needs regularly.

How we support patients

We are committed to:

  • Treating everyone with dignity, respect and compassion.
  • Providing equitable access to healthcare.
  • Making reasonable adjustments wherever possible.
  • Training our staff to recognise and respond to patients' communication and accessibility needs.
  • Reviewing and improving our services based on patient feedback.
